Farthest is a mini adventure game in which the characters find themselves trapped by the ice floe after escaping their past. Faced with an unknown threat, they will have to explore the white desert to hope to hold out until the melt that will free their ship or risk perishing under the attacks of the creature and the growing madness of the crew.

If you are going to walk on thin ice, you might as well dance.

Trigger warning: lack of privacy, severe reduction in sense of smell and touch, isolation, despair, emotional distress, body horror.

A stellar set of thematically appropriate encounters and considerations for venturing within Dreckgullard's Desolation or really anywhere meant to represent a frozen hell where man has in hubris dared to trespass. I will specifically sing the praises of this for incorporating a gimmick - that of the ship succumbing to increasingly dire circumstances over a period of time which will inevitably end in doom.

It is the sort of mechanism I've had in mind before and I appreciate seeing it so well demonstrated herein; the incorporation of the senses (with icons to boot), the granularity of situations unfolding, a nice set of interesting encounters (from the violent to the reprieve-granting), and it all loops well together.

The presentation of trigger warnings is always helpful; both warning those who may be more deeply affected by the content and also by giving at a glance the sort of vibes, themes, and images that the author seeks to make use of.

Though my own game has yet to find itself in the Desolation and my own research/ideation on that region are of a type to this - I would say "Farthest" is well worth the price it asks and will give you enough content to set up a campaign down in that miserable pale beyond.

I purchased this originally because it made use of some of my "HexWest" assets and it caught my eye. I am delighted they have been used in such an interesting product.

All the best,
